One day when I was at Quilt Retreat, Kevin met up with some friends. They are also traveling full-time. They went to South Beach, OR, across the road from our campground. Kevin found this amazing rock – look and see the shells INSIDE the holes. He said the rock is as big as two basketballs side by side. Very unique!

Kevin said he was taking me on a date! I had cooked all week at the retreat and he wanted to take me out. We went to the Newport bay harbor and ate at Clearwater Restaurant. Had a great view overlooking the harbor. I had the appetizer crab dip. It was served cold with blue tortilla chips. Delicious! Kevin had fish and chips. Both of us Rated: Once every 6 months. We drove past the fishing boats and just kept driving along the Yaquina River. It was so beautiful! The river is quite wide, green wild grass and trees with open spaces. Houses tucked in every once in a while. At one point we stopped for pictures. There are poles in the water and it looks like the railroad used to run through there. What a fun evening. Kevin and I missed each other terribly, even though we were only apart each day of the retreat, as I went home (footnote 1) each night. You should see our texts! ♥️

Yaquina Head Lighthouse. Operated from 1857-1934. We went to the visitor center. It was free day to get into the park so I didn’t need my Access Pass. Kevin asked if the video was captioned and they said not that one in the main area but come to this other theater. He grabbed me and we had our own private viewing. HAHA No sound but captions. I thought that was hilariously great! Kevin said the lady he first asked was new and she wasn’t sure so she asked someone. Soon we had three ladies helping us; all so very nice and kind. We stayed for a second show about some rangers in the park. We walked outside and down the path. We could see surfers in the waves way down below. We decided to walk along the path to the lighthouse. The sun was out, it was a bit warmer and breezy. The sky and water blue and the lighthouse bright white.

Next we headed north to Depoe Bay. We saw people with camp chairs sitting next to their vehicles looking down at the waves crash the rocks. We got parked and walked around the edge. Kevin heard two older ladies talking about seeing whales and they had their iPhones ready for pictures. We watched for little bit and soon Kevin pointed to a whale. I squealed with delight as I was also able to see it’s long body in the water. It was right up close to the rock/cliffs. What a great day! We saw a guy on the outer cliffs, past the fence, fishing! His line had to go down a 100 feet!

Back home we bought some firewood from the campground, $8.00 for a not-big bundle, and had a campfire. The wood is wet so it smoked a lot but it was a good fire and we enjoyed it.
- “Home” is where we park it. Home is our 2022 Alliance Avenue, 36 ft, 5th wheel.
Your pictures are beautiful! Kevin gets points for taking you on a date! How lucky you were to see a whale! I have never seen a whale! Safe travels, and have a great weekend!

Thank you. And yes, he gets points. Funny story: Many years ago I found a recipe for Hot Tuna Buns. Sounds like a tuna melt and sounded good. When Kevin asked what was for dinner I told him “Hot Tuna Buns.” So you know, he isn’t a picky eater and always eats what I fix. Well this time… his face got all scrunched and he said, “Let’s go out to eat!” And we did. The next time I had it on the menu, “Let’s go out to eat!” So what does this smart lady learn? If I don’t want to cook and want to eat out, I just say, “Tonight we are having Hot Tuna Buns!” And by the way, I have never made that recipe! Hahaha

Nice! It is interesting how different campgrounds or areas define “bundle”.

To see it a whale that close, what a magical moment! I have seen their spouting water in the distance. I love reading about your Oregon adventures because it gives me ideas of what to do. I hope to always be a tourist!
