Quartzsite Big Tent, Movie w/ Device For Deaf, & Super Bowl Funny

The day was absolutely perfect 73°, sunny, no wind at all. We were in Quartzsite, Arizona for Quartzsite Big Tent Show for RVs. Kevin gets a thrill of coming to this and it is fun. A trade show tent. It opened up yesterday and from Facebook posts was very busy. We went to where we parked last year and there were a lot of open spaces. Good money spent – $10 to park close; the show is free. Kevin was surprised there wasn’t more RV stuff, but he says that every time. HAHA Lots of jewelry, memberships, nutrition stuff, massage chairs, treats, etc. The best part was he stopped at the Hughes WatchDog booth and talked to a very knowledgeable and nice guy. The guy and Kevin talked about our power plug protector. He said humidity and desert alkali dirt are both hard on the plug. Need to take it out and clean it every week. He said it is warrantied for life. Ours has one side with a problem. Guy said take a picture, email, and say he talked with him and they will send a new one out to us even that day! Amazing costumer service. These protectors are around $500.00! So thankful.

Always Get More Liquified! Big Tent Show, Quartzsite, AZ 01/26

We always stop at Liquified booth and buy more tank cleaning stuff. Will recognized us saying he had met us before. I know it is because Kevin and I sign American Sign Language to each other and that is a unique thing to see. However, I always get the comments how people remember me or think I look familiar to them. I have always said I couldn’t rob a bank because people remember my face! 🤣 Liquified has a new product out that is a toilet bowl cleaner. We got some of that, too. We were through the inside, outside, and back through inside the big tent in 2 hours. It always goes fast. We had planned to boondock in the area and attend Hamfest again this year. That is the ham radio event that lasts the entire week. Sadly, we were still tied up with doctor appointments and needed to be elsewhere.

Brief update/reminder: our doctor moved so we had to get another one but got one in the same group. Then our appointment we had set 3 months in advance was changed on us just a few weeks out. Then three days before the new appointment time and day for the annual check ups, we found out that medical group has gone bankrupt and is actually getting sued by health insurances and employees. What a mess! Found a doctor in a different medical group but of course that takes time to get an appointment as soon as possible. Lots of plans had to be changed and fun events missed. Hopefully things will go smoother next year. 🤞🏻

Ready For Movie w/ Caption Box, Laughlin, NV 01/26

Finally went to a movie theater to see Song Sung Blue, a true story about a couple who sang and performed Neil Diamond songs. The movie started at 1:45 p.m. We left around 11:30 a.m. and planned to walk around and see the shops around the theater and such. As we crossed over the bridge and into Nevada, I saw the sign and started to laugh so hard. Why? Because we totally forgot about the time zone change (yes, we are camping on the edge of the time zone plus 3 states!). That meant we gained an hour. Oh my gosh, that was funny. I haven’t missed that ever before. So we had plenty plenty plenty of time. We did find a restaurant and ate there. It wasn’t anything special but tasted good. The movie theater was nice and had reclining but not heated seats. The caption device (I am deaf and need to read the words) went into the drink holder and held up much better than others I have had at other theaters.

Today there were 2 football games to determine who goes to Super Bowl. Of course the KC Chiefs are out; they were so bad they didn’t even get in the playoffs. Anyway, it was Denver against New England; we really wanted Denver to win. The sad part is their quarterback broke his ankle at the last game in overtime. So sad! Of course, our channels don’t get the stations the game is played on so we decided to go to Buffalo Wild Wings and watch the game. It wasn’t crowded when we got there, a few minutes before the 1:00 p.m. start time. Soon it got crowded. Well, this was the first time we have ever gone to a place and watch an entire football game. Kevin made sure with the waitress at the start that it was okay for us to stay there. “OH yes, most everyone does.” Good. We kept ourselves in food and Diet Cokes throughout the game. However, with appetizer we shared, each a dinner plate, and a shared dessert – it costed more than buying a year of NFL+. HAHA we gave ourselves a great chuckle at that. We really had a great time. Fun to see people cheering. Most wanted Denver. Denver did great with the 2nd string quarterback but couldn’t pull the win 10-7. Very close game! Fun time and way to full of food!!!

*The blog posts are taken from my daily travel journal. Would you believe – it takes me a 1/2 day every week to whittle down a week’s worth of journal so it won’t be too long for the post each week. HAHA Thank you for reading!
