Kevin Steals Pie & A Few Additional Photos

Isn’t this picture the funniest?! I posted last Friday about this amazing Auction. In this photo, Kevin pretends to take Larry’s pie and what a shock on Larry’s face! Jim is holding tightly to his pie. HAHA

Larry, me (Charla), and Jim at the Auction.

Several of you sweet readers commented that you were also surprised, like us, that Washington’s army at Valley Forge had log cabins. Here is a picture of the replicas built by the National Park Service.

A lot of the towns around Manheim, PA, and in fact a lot of the US northeast, have houses right next to the road. This is something we weren’t use to seeing.

Historic downtown Lancaster has the beautiful Lancaster Central Market. It was established in 1730 and claims to be the oldest continuously operated public market in America. We thought the ceiling was magnificent to see. Also, look at the people I captured in this photo. This guy must be telling quite the big story due to the looks on the faces of the people around him!! HAHA

I want to share another picture from our time at Hershey. Number 14 was so specialized, the function of it is unknown! HAHA Any guesses?

I close this mid-week post with a few photos of covered bridges in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Thanks for reading!

  1. A couple of thoughts while reading this- we lived for awhile near Mannheim, Germany. There must have been a lot of German immigrants that originally settled here-which makes sense. We went to the Lancaster Market years ago, which must have been the same time as we visited Hershey. But Valley Forge? That’s a blank! So, I enjoyed your pictures, especially of the cabins there and of the covered bridges. Have a great day!

    1. That is neat you lived there in Germany. I think your honey was in the military; I thank you both of the service to our country. I have often found towns here named for the towns the people left in other countries. Thanks for reading; now you have Valley Forge to visit when you come through this area again. 🙂

  2. Fun post! Thanks for pointing out the facial expressions – both of the pie stealing and at the market. I also noticed the man’s hands at the market. Maybe he was saying “And the fish was THIS big!” Haha!

    1. HAHA, I think you are right about the man and his story! The funny thing is, I was focused on taking a picture of the ceiling and I didn’t even notice the people and their expressions until I looked at the photo later. 🙂

  3. Your photos are beautiful, Charla. I love the perspective of the Valley Forge log cabins. Those houses are really close to the street. Hope nobody texts while driving! The Lancaster Central Market looks great. It reminds me of the market on Granville Island (Vancouver). The covered bridges look quite quaint. And I do not have any idea about #14. It does look like everyone had fun at the quilt auction!
